Product Review - Brunton Eterna Binoculars
This past season I used the Eterna 10x42 binoculars from Brunton. Initially, I had my mind set to purchase another more expensive set of glasses, but I was given the opportunity to look through a set of Eterna binoculars at one of the local hunting shows here in Phoenix. I was quite impressed with the glasses at the time, and the price of these binoculars was quite a bit less than I had planned on spending. Needless to say, I decided to use the Bruntons for a season. CLARITY: In the binocular world, clarity seems to be the big word these days, and the Eterna line from Brunton can deliver outstanding clarity. I was most impressed with the detail that could be seen from extremely long range. In fact, we were able to judge bull elk with the glasses from well over one half of a mile. In addition, I use the glasses while shooting a 3-D league on a weekly basis. Prior to using the 10x42 Eternas, I really didn’t “bother” with binoculars to determine the target picture. I would simply use the old binoculars to see my arrow in the target if I wasn’t able to find the arrow with the naked eye. Now, the Eternas are a critical part of my pre-shot routine as they provide an outstanding picture of the target area, and I can actually score most rounds with the binoculars immediately after taking the shot. LOW LIGHT: Binocular performance in low light conditions is another big issue. If you are a hunter, you will use your binoculars more during times of low light than at any other time: early morning and late evening are simply the best times to see game. The Eternas from Brunton proved to perform quite well in these conditions. I was quite pleased with their ability to gather light and create detail in less than ideal light. In the extreme late evening, I even found that the Eternas provided a better image than the naked eye could see. ACCESSORIES: An additional benefit provided by Brunton is the accessory package included with their binoculars. The neck/shoulder strap is a very comfortable padded strap that adjusts quite easily to accommodate personal preference in wearing. In addition, a neoprene cover is included that provides options for wearing on the belt as well as continued protection while on the shoulder if desired. Finally, they include a lens cleaning tool that can be stored in a pocket sewn into the shoulder strap.
If you are looking for a good set of Binoculars at a reasonable price, I would suggest you strongly consider the 10x42 Eterna from Brunton.
