ArrowSport Seeks Input on Archery Ranges

If you know of anyone with expertise in designing, building and maintaining archery ranges, ArrowSport wants to hear from you.

If you or someone you know has experience in designing and/or building archery ranges, ArrowSport needs your help. Here’s why: Our No. 1 objective for increasing archery participation is to ensure people have places to shoot. To reach that goal, our No. 1 objective is to help organizations build and maintain archery ranges.

To accomplish that goal efficiently and expertly, we’re compiling and organizing all the information currently available on range design and construction. This information will become part of a “guidebook” for archery ranges, and it will be used to encourage state agencies, local departments, and archery and bowhunting organizations to develop, refurbish and improve ranges. As part of this process we’re also gathering and organizing layouts, designs and construction techniques for all types of archery ranges.

The guidebook will include everything from small practice ranges to full-service archery complexes that contain 3D, FITA, field and indoor ranges. We’re especially interested in information on projects or ranges where archery has been incorporated into existing trap, skeet or sporting clays ranges.

In addition to range information, we want to know who has expertise in developing and managing archery ranges. We need the names and contact information for individuals or companies that have planned, constructed and/or remodeled and refurbished these ranges. This kind of expertise is in short supply, and so we’re seeking people willing to offer their services to help us create more and better places for archers and bowhunters to shoot.

If you have archery range drawings, plans, layout or construction information, or if you have expertise in building and managing archery ranges, please contact Kelly Kelly by May 12, 2004 at Box 258, Comfrey, MN 56019; or toll-free at (866) 266-2776, ext. 3; or e-mail at kellykelly@archerytrade.org
