Sabino Canyon

Access to this trailhead can be reached two different ways. One is to catch the tram from Sabino Canyon visitor center to the end of the road in upper Sabino Canyon. The other is by hiking less that a mile to lower Sabino Canyon recreation area from the visitor center. This is the trailhead to the phone line trail that travels up the canyon 4.7 miles to the Sabino Canyon trailhead.

From the upper road, the trail makes several switchbacks from the start for about ½ mile before turning left heading Northeast up Sabino Canyon.

As you travel well above the canyon bottom try and visualize the dam that was almost built here many many years ago.

There are views of several different canyons, excellent campsites and many trail possibilities.

It takes about 1 hour to walk the trail, but make sure to take extra food and water. The 2.5 miles of trail are fairly easy.

Remember: If you pack it in, pack it out.
