Sonoran desert tortoise open house is June 16

Arizonans can give their input on the management of the Sonoran desert tortoise by attending an event on Wednesday, June 16. The Arizona Interagency Desert Tortoise Team will hold an open house from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Phoenix Zoo. Experts will be on hand to talk about a proposed State Conservation Agreement for the Sonoran desert tortoise.

The tortoise team will provide background on the species and information on the proposed agreement. Experts will also be available to answer questions and give out comment cards.

Everyone is welcome to show up at the Stone House Pavilion at the Phoenix Zoo, which is at 455 N. Galvin Parkway in Phoenix. The Arizona Game and Fish Department contact on this issue is J. Daren Riedle at (602) 789-3767 or driedle@gr.state.az.us.
