CITGO BASSMASTER events rescheduled
A
Statement from Dean Kessel, General Manager of B.A.S.S.
by B.A.S.S. Communications
09/12/2001 .... "Given the tragic events of yesterday, B.A.S.S.
is rescheduling this week's New York CITGO BASSMASTER Open in Clayton and next
week's New York CITGO BASSMASTER Tour event in Catskill. B.A.S.S. made this
decision in close consultation with the anglers, our sponsors and local
organizers. Make-up dates for events will be announced as soon as they are
established. Our prayers are with the victims of this tragedy, their families
and the country."
- Kevin VanDam, 2001 BASS Masters Classic Champion
- "Authorities are asking people to stay clear of the region. There's
no question this was the right decision by B.A.S.S. Like all Americans,
our thoughts are elsewhere right now. Our athletes travel great distances
to these events and there is so much uncertainty because of this senseless
tragedy."
- Brent Chapman, B.A.S.S. Angler
- "It's too soon to be fishing here or anywhere. This was the only
decision B.A.S.S. could have made. The country is really shaken up and as
important as sports are to our culture, they need to take a back seat at
this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and our
President."
- "My wife and family had planned a train ride from Albany to New
York next week and shopping is the last thing on our minds right
now," added Chapman.
