Dombrowski Takes $10,000.00 at Won Bass Tournament Alex Dombrowski, of Tucson, was the top money winner from Arizona at the Won Bass Pro-Am Tournament recently held at Lake Pleasant. In a field that included 179 boats, Dombrowski fished his way to a second-place finish in the pro division earning him a check for $10,000.00. Top honors went to Jim Gomez, of Lemon Grove California, for a two-day weight of 26.66 lbs. edging out Dombrowski’s 25.62. Gomez earned $35,000.00 for his efforts. Other Arizona anglers who finished in the top ten of the pro division were, 5th-John Murray 23.06 ($3,600.00), 7th-Brett Hite 22.65 ($2,000.00), 8th-Vern Ridgeway 22.30 ($2,000.00), and 10th-Larry Marquez 21.83 ($2,000.00). In the AAA Division, Bill Wilson, of Glendale, took top honors with a two-day weight of 27.88 lbs. The victory earned Wilson a check for $4,550.00. Jeff Dean, of Lake Havasu City, took home $1,500.00 for his second place bag of 26.84, while Greg Shrantz, of Tucson, was the final Arizona angler in the top ten of the AAA Division. He finished ninth with 20.96, which was worth $500.00. Won Bass Tournaments use a combined weight format where the pro and the amateur fish as a team. Each day participants draw for new partners.
