IGFA JR. World Record Largemouth Bass

While countless anglers are still in search of their first ten-pound fish, fourteen-year-old Cody Pierce, of California, was in search of number twenty-one. During a quick trip to Lake Murray before school, 3/22/00, Cody found her. But this was not your everyday lunker. This 17.05 lb. monster, caught on a 4" Western Plastics worm, turned out to be a new International Game Fish Association Jr. World Record Largemouth Bass. It’s safe to say, Cody was going to be late for school. After documenting his catch, he released "Bertha" back into the lake in hopes of seeing her again someday. Cody spends a lot of time on the water with his father Danny who is, without a doubt, extremely proud of his son. Since his record setting day he has caught four more fish over the ten-pound mark.
