Fishing with Lures

  When retrieving a spinner bait or crank bait, vary the speed and motion of the retrieval.  You want the lure to slow down and even stop from time to time.  Erratic movement will often imply to predator that the bait is crippled and promote an instinctive strike. 

 

Colors

Colors are important to the artificial lure fisherman.  The fish will turn on and off too different color and size baits from day to day and even hour to hour.  So what do you use?  First ask the local fisherman or bait shop and check the fishing reports.  You want to identify and stock up on proven baits.  Next keep trying different baits to you figure out the puzzle.  Here are a couple of standard colors for Lake Pleasant.

Soft Plastic baits: Punkin Seed and Motor Oil

Crank Baits: Shad Colors
