Need A New Fishing License? Go Online

Getting ready to go fishing and need a 2001 license? Go online.

If you have a computer with access to the Internet, you no longer need to leave home to purchase an Arizona fishing or hunting license. Just visit the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s Internet Home Page at www.azgfd.com.

Those wishing to buy a license electronically can also call 1-866-GO-AZGFD. The electronic license sales are actually being handled by an outside contractor, Systems Consultants in Nevada, and the firm is charging a $2 transactional fee.

“This on-line service makes getting a hunting or fishing license much more convenient for our customers.  Technologically and customer-service wise, we are set to continue getting more sophisticated as this century unfolds,” said Information Branch Chief Joe Janisch.

Hunters need to keep in mind that once they purchase the license on-line, they will be given a “temporary” license number to carry with them until they physically receive a license in the mail. That temporary number cannot be used on the application forms for hunt tag permits.

“Don’t call in to get your license on the game tag application deadline and expect to get everything you need on-line,” Janisch cautioned.

While visiting the Game and Fish Home Page, you might want to browse a little. Look under “What’s New” and you can find the weekly fishing reports, weekly Wildlife News, lake levels, and other timely information. You can peruse or download the regulations, learn about wildlife, or even download department application forms.
