STRIPERS AT LAKE PLEASANT? Yes, I’m afraid it’s true. Ever since the lake was filled in 1992 there has been occasional reports of stripers being caught. Anglers fishing for largemouths or white bass have reported several in the one to four pound variety. Recently, Bill Kynast of Glendale, brought a 7 1/4 pound striper to Arizona Fish and Game offices to verify his catch. Kynast was fishing the bottom in thirty foot of water and was quite surprised when he realized what was on the line. The largest striper on record at the lake is a 5-¼ pound fish caught by Norb Agnitsch in 1998. Most largemouth bass fans are not too happy about the stripers showing up at Pleasant. They would much rather drive to Havasu or the Colorado River in search of a monster striper than have them cut into the fish population at Pleasant. Other fisherman I’ve talked to seem to think they can co-exist at a lake the size of Pleasant. Outdoorsman Az. is interested in your feedback on this subject.
