"WHOPPERS" AT WILLOW BEACH

Striper fishing remains hot along the Colorado River at Willow beach. September is probably the best month of the year to catch a monster striper trying to fatten up before water temperatures start to fall. This past week a pair of Boulder City, Nevada anglers, Alan Cole and Jerry Rago each weighed in 52 lb. lunkers. Just about every one of the big boys caught last week at Willow Beach came from mile 52. Trout imitations are working due to recent stockings. AC Plugs, ospreys, castaics, are all working right now. Find the trout and you will find the stripers. Bring a salt water rig with 40lb. test for this trip. Unseasonably warm weather will likely keep the stripers hungry and extremely active for a couple more weeks. Your best bet for the monsters is at night. Use the current to drift the shoreline. Check out the daily fish log at the Willow Beach Harbor for the latest information. Stop in or call them at (520) 767-4747.
