Fishing the Alamo Whether its bass, crappie, or cats you are after, the place is Lake Alamo. This has been a tremendous year for the fishery and shows no signs of letting up. Bass fishermen have been bringing 5+ pound bass to the scales on a regular basis ever since the spawn, there have been numerous recent reports of 100 crappie nights, and nice cats are on the prowl in the evenings as well. With the blistering temperatures of late, and very little shade, anglers have been turning their attention to night fishing at Alamo. Bass anglers are having success with crankbaits and topwaters in the early evening hours, switching to plastics at night, and back to topwaters in the mornings. Inside and outside points, along with main lake structure, are good places to start. For crappie, break out the crappie lights, minnows, and jigs, and check with the Lake Store for up-to-date reports on where they are running. The cats love chicken liver or stink baits such as Hog Wild and can be found in the creek channels. Good Luck and Good Fishin’, Kip Pollay Good Luck and Good Fishin’, Kip Pollay |
