Pro-Files: Chuck Brinkman

Every town has someone whose name is always associated with a sport.  In my hometown of Wickenburg, and in the sport of tournament bass fishing, that name is Chuck Brinkman.  Long before I got into the sport, I would constantly see his name in the local paper or hear of his accomplishments on the street.  And now that I have fished the past two years along side of him in Desert Splash, I can see why he gets so much respect.  This guy can fish.  He has been beating up on Splash members ever since its initial year in the B.A.S.S. Federation, 1992.  At this time he has earned “Angler of the Year” honors in 1993, 1995, 1996, 1998, and 1999.  He is right on course for another one in 2001, if he participates in the final tournaments of the season, schedule permitting.  He has a top-ten finish in each and every year as a Splash member.  He also received “Big Fish of the Year” awards in 1996, 1997, 1999, and 2000.  Chuck regularly participates in the All-Star, ABA, Won Bass, Monterey, and the Az. B.A.S.S. Federation tournaments as well.  If there is a big tournament around, you will usually find him there.  He has accumulated numerous top finishes in these as well, including a first place finish at this past Februarys Federation tournament at Lake Pleasant.  He also has dedicated himself to the promotion of fishing, along with being a regular volunteer to worthwhile events such as, the Glendale D.A.R.E. Fishing Tournaments, The Valley Big Brother/ Big Sister Tournaments, the recent Wildlife for Tomorrow event, and several Casting Kids contests.

Chuck recently announced that he is fishing the Western Pro B.A.S.S. circuit this upcoming season, with the first event being held at Kinniwick, Washington, in October.  He will be fishing out of a Bullet boat that wears the Napa blue and yellow colors.  Brinkman’s current sponsors include, Bullet, Napa, Woodland Marine, and Enders.  He plans on traveling the Western circuit, but plans on fishing all the local events that he possibly can, at the same time.  I would personally like to extend Chuck, on behalf of Arizona Outdoorsman, our best wishes on his upcoming venture.
