Pro-Files: Kim Acevedo
Since I started doing the "Pro-Files", at AZOD, I have had the pleasure to get to know some of Arizona’s best and most respected anglers. Though these guys would love to whip you on the water, they have all been extremely friendly and personable off the lake. Meeting people like Kim Acevedo has made this worthwhile for me. I first met Kim at the Fred Hall Show, where B.A.S.S. President Mike Johnson introduced us. He was talking with people at the Southwest Boats, Ranger exhibit. Sponsored anglers are often asked to attend these functions, but I got the feeling that he would have been there if he wasn’t sponsored. Kim is a polite, soft-spoken man that obviously loves the sport of fishing. He is glad to be an educational and promotional force in his sport. Kim has fished with numerous organizations including the Az. B.A.S.S. Federation, Gila Bass Club, Wild West Bass, All Star Bass, American Bass Association, White Mountain Bass Club, Five-Star Bass, and Arizona Anglers United. His 10+ years of competitive fishing has resulted in 28 first place, 18 second, and 15 third place finishes. He has also won first place "Big Fish" 27 times, and second place 17 more, along with five "Angler of the Year" titles. Some of his accomplishments include being a member of the Az. B.A.S.S. Federation’s State Team three times, a qualifier for the All-Star Bass Super Team Championships two times, and a qualifier for the Five-Star Bass Tournament of Champions five straight years. Kim also realizes the importance of passing on the heritage, as he remains active in youth related activities, such as organizing Casting Kids Contests, despite a busy schedule. He currently resides in Lakeside with his wife of fifteen years, Kathleen, and daughter Katrina. Kim works as a Construction Supervisor for the T.E.C. Corporation, but would love to make a living as a tournament angler and ultimately qualify for the Bassmaster Classic someday. His sponsors include: Southwest Boats, Ranger Boats, Lowrance Electronics, Eagle Claw, Equalizer Scales & Pressure Bite Worms, Willy Wacker Spinnerbaits, M&S Marine, Kick’n Bass, T.E.C. Corp., Luhr-Jensen, Scientific Bass Products, and Bishop Select Lures.
