Cow Elk Trophies

  It is not a big rack that I can hang my hat on yet every time I wear the pendent I remember the big cow all piled up at the bottom of the deep ravine. I remember looking at her and wondering how long it would take my campmates to forgive me for this. Turned out it took four of us two days to pack out the meat.

   It is not unusual for cow elk to have one or two ivories.  This one had only one and I knew then that I had to have a piece of jewelry from it. It is now one of my favorite pieces as that hunt is one of my favorite memories. 

Ivories can be made into rings or pendants. Take it to your local jeweler for ideas. The settings can be simple or elaborate. What ever your taste and pocketbook dictates.

   So, on the next cow elk hunt don’t overlook that ivory trophy.
