Elkhunter’s ‘Dove’ Hunt
His handle is
Elkhunter but he signs off as Javelina Outfitter,
The people on the forums
know that he is 18 years old and hails from southern Arizona. He is now at NAU
for his freshman year majoring in forestry. Here is a post from early September
where he shares his first dove hunting trip in the high country.
Well this morning I
decided to go dove hunting up in 7E, well here's my conclusion, they’re nearly
no doves up here! I walked a long ways today, and spotted 7 doves, but only had
one opportunity to shoot at them. They were flying past me and one decided to
land close to me while the rest flew somewhere. I went 1 for 1 today! can't get
better than that. I hunted for about 4 hours
for one dove. Plus I saw a jackrabbit moving under a juniper so I got closer and
put it on a run, got the sucker at 30 yards. Gonna be fine eating. Here are some
pictures of the northern bird hunting. I had a blast with my new camera, coming
up with all kinds of poses!
Here's my first dove, it's in my hand...it's a
small guy

Here's
my first northern rabbit, posing in big game style! I figured since I didn’t get
drawn for anything this year, I could do these poses with small game.

Here's another cool pose I tried out and it looks
good too!
My last picture is kinda
crooked, but my truck was lopsided due to where I parked.
