Dorado Found in warm waters worldwide, the Dolphin, mahi mahi, or dorado is one of the more colorful gamefish in the world. This gold, green and blue fish is a popular gamefish not only because of its fighting abilities but its also one of the tastiest. The Dolphin is basically a schooling, migratory deep water species but will enter coastal waters. Its primarily inhabits the upper column (surface) of the open ocean. Dolphins are extremely fast swimmers and feed extensively on flying fish, squid and small fish. They are attracted by anything that floats and will hang around buoys, seaweed, or any floating object. Successful fishing techniques include trolling surface baits or artificial lures, free fly fishing live baits or casting artificials. When the first fish of a school is hooked it is kept in the water. This technique will actually hold the school close to the boat and allow more fish to be caught.
