When hooking up a live bait, be as gentle as you can. A dead or lethargic bait will not catch fish. Bring a small tropical aquarium net to scoop out your bait, they can be difficult to grab out of the bait tank trays. Look for the most lively bait. This will help from manhandling your bait and also save you time. When baiting sardines, hook them up in the lower rear. Use no weight (flylining) hooking a sardine in the rear will cause them to swim downwards. When hooking an anchovy, hook them thru the nose. If proves to be difficult you can also hook them thru the eyes, they just won't last as long. Look for the green backs on the anchovies, they seem to get bit better. For weight use either a 1/4oz rubber core sinker, split shot or a fluorocarbon leader with a swivel and bullet weight. Change bait often. Good Luck Amberjack Performance Reels Jpowell@mbakercorp.com
