Good Weather for a Good Sunday Shoot
Last Sunday I went to Ben Avery to shoot a 3-D tournament. I wasn’t sure who was putting it on (all we have to do is check AZOD to find out now) but I knew there would be one. My friend and fellow team AZOD Archery Team member Doug Ridder were quite surprised when we pulled in and the entire parking lot was full. We found out when registering that Droptine Bowhunters were hosting the Sunday event, these guys know how to run a 3-D tournament and set up fun courses. The first course we shot was an African Safari adventure shooting at everything from lions to alligators. These are targets I don’t get to shoot at all the time so it was an education as well as a fun. Judging distances on some of these animals can be tricky when you’re not familiar with the sizes of them. The next two courses were more familiar animals. They were even some with three to six targets to choose from. Like I said these guys know how to set a course. In total there were 45 targets to shoot. It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Well worth the $13.00 entry fee. Scores were in by 2:00 p.m. and the prizes and cash were handed out. Bring out the family to shoot one of these tournaments. Droptine always looks forward to the kids coming and makes everyone feel welcome. I would have the results but I haven’t received them yet. If you are part of a club and would like your tournaments listed on our calendar please e-mail the archery editor and we’ll post it. Clubs also receive a free web page here on AZOD, e-mail the archery editor for details. Thanks Droptine for a great Sunday afternoon. See you soon.
