PRODUCT REVIEW……DEAD NUTS PRO SIGHTS

Todd Hulm

Archery Editor TEAM AZOD

I recently received a Dead Nuts Pro II sight from Copper John, and I am very impressed. The sight functions superbly and provides many features that contribute to good shooting. In addition, the all metal construction provides peace of mind and resistance to breakage.

The immediate outstanding feature of this sight is the fact that it is round. This may seem a bit simple, but the sight picture gained in the round housing is more consistent with outstanding accuracy---you don’t see snipers using rifles with square or rectangular scopes do you? And the housing is also accented with fluorescent orange on the shooter side of the sight that provides outstanding definition in the sight picture.

In addition, all Dead Nuts pin sights use Copper John’s "SoloPlane Technology (patent pending)" to achieve a straight line for all of the pins. Unlike many other sights, the pins don’t go from side to side in the sight window…they are in a straight line. This not only serves in being inherently more accurate, but it also reduces the tendency to torque the bow in order to gain a straight line with your pins.

The pins are also very bright. In fact, I would have to say they are the brightest pins I have seen. Again, Copper John uses a special process to treat the fiber optics during their formation to enhance their ability to transmit light. In this process they have greatly increased the brightness as perceived by the shooter. But, the real advantage to this is the fact that I am able to shoot a smaller diameter pin in my sight. The diameter of my pins is now only .19 and I feel the smaller pins allow me to be more accurate especially when picking out the spot on a 3-D target.

Further, the Dead Nuts sight is equipped with an integrated level within the sight window. This feature is truly a benefit to the shooter as it allows the shooter to view the bubble without changing focus from the target to the level. Needless to say, checking for any torque on the bow is truly important when battling for points in competition or if you are trying to improve in the area of consistent accuracy.

Again, I am very pleased with the results I have seen while using the Dead Nuts Pro sight from Copper John. If you are interested in the outstanding line of sights available from Copper John, or if you would like more information, visit your local dealer or go to www.copperjohn.com.
