Beat the Heat By
Mike Anderson Offroad Section Leader (Pictures
at end, click to enlarge) A great way to wheel in the
summer is to go where it is cooler. If
you’re like me, you like to wheel and like the scenery in Sedona.
How does both sound? If you
own a Jeep or other less than full sized 4 wheel drive, give Broken Arrow a try.
This trail is used by a lot of the Jeep tours in the Sedona area but can
be accessed and driven by anyone, even mountain bikes. It is a very scenic trail with lots of fun things to test yourself and your vehicle. It is a moderately difficult trail that lasts about 3-4 hours depending on how many stops you make and how long you enjoy the views. If you’re coming from the valley, take I-17 to exit 298 (highway 179) to Sedona. Follow north about 13 miles to a road on the right with a sign saying Broken Arrow with a broken arrow pointing right. Take that road all the way out and the trail will start where the road ends. Have fun. - END -
