Winter
Camping in Arizona
Winter
is here, and the snow is starting to fly in the high country. Many families will
put away their camping gear till next summer. But with the mild weather in the
lower Sonoran deserts you would be missing a great opportunity to get out and
enjoy this part of Arizona. A winter camping trip could give your kids the
chance to see the desert without those burning heat waves and the snakes are not
out. Here
is a short list of some of my favorite places to go during the winter months. 1.
Alamo
Lake:
Located north west of Wenden. At Alamo, you will find plenty of camping sites
both primitive and established. Plus a great little store that rents boats in
case you want to try your hand at fishing or if you want to try from shore there
several good spots. 2.
Lake
Havasu:
Located on the Colorado River between Parker and Bullhead City. You will find
established campgrounds along its shores. And you can even take in a tour of the
London Bridge. 3.
But by
far my favorite place is just out side of any desert town. It doesn’t matter
which one. It’s called BLM land and comprises a huge portion of Arizona. Think
about it. You use this land while hunting or fishing. Think back to some of your
hunting trips in the past. Remember that one desert place where you thought Hmmm
that would make a good place to camp. Well what are you waiting for? Summer?
Pack the family and camping gear and get out there before it gets too hot to
camp in the desert. Remember
to send AZOD some pictures from your camping trips If
you Pack-it in Pack-it out R
