Introduction:

Meet fly fishing guide Reg “Chip” Chipman, owner of Arizona Mountain Flyfishing.  Chip lives and runs his business from Nutrioso, AZ, near the New Mexico border and fishes the White Mountains an average of 200 days a year.  Since making the White Mountains his home, Chip has walked hundreds of miles of scenic streamside trails and learned to read every inch of moving water that flows through the White Mountains.  Aside from guiding and fishing for personal enjoyment, Chip writes a fly fishing column that is published in several news publications in New Mexico.  Due to his love of fly fishing and willingness to help novice fly anglers catch trout in his home-waters, Chip succumbed to friendly peer-pressure and took the advice of his friends and peers to become a fly fishing guide three years ago.   In the past 4 years, Chip has caught and released over 7,000 trout & grayling from the White Mountains! 

I first met Chip in October of 2001.  Our initial correspondence started with an email I sent him after noticing the company logo on the door of his SUV parked alongside so many of the same streams that I fish in the White Mountains.  On each occasion that my friends and I drove by his parked truck, I felt more compelled to contact him just to see what he was all about.  Our friendship started with a simple email at first, then graduated to an open invitation to fish the trophy waters of Silver Creek.  I anxiously jumped on the opportunity to fish somewhere I have never been to with an experienced guide.   When we met in the parking lot, a kind, yet confident smile, accompanied by a firm handshake were a prelude to a good day of fly fishing and streamside chat.  A few hours and Apache Trout  later, I had a new friend and fishing partner.
