Medicine, William (Billy) Griswold practices small animal emergency medicine in

Background and Interests:
Following his internship, Dr. Griswold spent two years in general small
animal practice in
Dr. Griswold enjoys the pace and challenge of emergency medicine, and is
particularly interested in anesthesia/analgesia (pain relief), critical care
management of complex medical cases, medical management of working dogs, and
trauma and reconstructive surgery. He
places considerable emphasis on the human side of veterinary medicine, and takes
great efforts to address the needs of his patients’ human companions as well.
Personal
Interests: Dr.
Griswold enjoys a variety of outdoor pursuits, including upland bird and small
game hunting, big game hunting, and bird dog training.
Free-time during the non-hunting months is spent hiking, camping, and
searching for reptiles and amphibians. Dr.
Griswold is a published author of both scientific and popular articles and an
accomplished photographer; many of his reptile and amphibian photographs have
appeared in books and magazines.
Dr. Griswold is proud to hunt with “Rana,” a Deutsch Drahthaar
trained by his own hand. The
experience of raising and training his first gundog has given Dr. Griswold a
much greater appreciation for the challenges inherent in working with
intelligent, active dogs. Dr.
Griswold is an active member of the Verein Deutsch Drahthaar Group North America
(VDD-GNA) and the JGHV. He serves
