Sometimes Arizona’s draw system requires us to hunt in unknown territory or not hunt at all making good maps essential for every serious hunter. We need topographic maps, aerial maps and of course road maps to plan the hunt. Virtually any map offered to the public is available online. It is not difficult to find a map on the Internet. Here a few sources for you to check out.

Terra server www.terraserver.com  (part of Microsoft) provides free aerial photo maps. Maptech www.maptech.com is another source for free maps. Surfers can call up and print enlarged aerial photo maps of virtually any location in the U.S. The resolution printed from your computer is not as good as the original maps.

Topographic maps, photo and satellite image maps are available through the U. S. Geological Survey. These can be purchased on-line for a nominal fee through www.usgs.gov. For standard 7.5-minute topographic maps, click on the "Mapfinder" window and type in the nearest town and state, and a map index will appear.

The DeLorme Company www.delorme.com offers topographic maps on line and also sells state atlases, GPS coordinate topographic maps and 3-D topographic map programs online.
