Will This be the Year? 

Well, I have went and done it. I have in my sweaty little hand one of the most coveted of big game tags in the state.  It is official now. The tag arrived in the mail last week.  I have a rifle bull elk tag for unit 10. My first reaction was Nah Nah na na na but I won’t go there.  The elk gods are fickle and boasting probably won’t help me to get into their good graces.  The hunt is in mid November so the weather gods must also be heeded.  

Lots of stuff to do, after all there is only 107 days to go. I have to get in shape with some quail hunting trips, get my rifle and ammo ready. Then, there are scouting trips to plan and gear to gather. The state of Arizona has done its part, the rest is up to me.

We have hunted this area before. However, any advice on this unit will be considered and appreciated. 

Those who are supposed to know about such things say that people are at their happiest when anticipating an event. I am not sure about that but I am pretty happy right now. I am anticipating a nice, not necessarily monster bull to cross my path. (Remember, the elk gods.)  We are usually meat hunters but….Will this be the year????
