Interesting information - Guns not on the list AP The HOME SAFETY COUNCIL has issued a report called the “STATE OF HOME SAFETY REPORT IN AMERICA”. It is interesting because it lists the major causes of death and injury in the home. Even more interesting is the absence of any firearm statistics.
The leading cause of death and injury in the home was found to be falls. 6750 people died as a result of falls in the home and another 5.6 million were injured. That’s right, 5,600,000 people were injured. Next on the list of causes of home fatalities was poison, with 5750 deaths reported. There were no figures given indicating how many were poisoned but survived. Cuts…pierced or stabbed by a sharp object… accounted for another 1.7 million reported injuries. Guns in general, and handguns in particular, are not even mentioned in the report. But, according to the Brady Campaign, guns accidents in the home are of “epidemic proportions” in this country. According to the Brady Bunch, having a gun in your home increases your risk of injury by 43 times. Let’s see here, there’s an estimated 80,000,000 handguns in this country (not including the military) and they’re responsible for a death rate of “epidemic proportion”, they increase your risk of injury by a factor of 43……and they didn’t even make the “major causes of death or injury” list. Makes one wonder what that Brady Bunch is smoking these days doesn’t it? Not related to the subject here, but interesting none the less, is the Los Angeles City Councils recent action to ban the possession and sale of “50 Cal. Sniper Rifles” and ammunition in that city. It seems that these rifles are “the weapon of choice” of terrorists and pose a grave risk to citizens and police officers. What they’re not telling the people is that their so called “weapon of choice” has only been used illegally ONCE IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY. AND, THAT THE OFFENDER WAS A SWORN POLICE OFFICER. Have a great day and remember, the 2nd Amendment isn’t about hunting..it’s about liberty.
