Big Game Drawing Complete:

Results Available By Friday At 5 p.m.

      The 2001 big game drawing is complete and the results will be loaded on the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s drawing information distribution network by Friday at 5 p.m.

      Once again, Game and Fish has beaten its deadline – July 27 – for completing the drawing and mailing out the results. Keep in mind that there will be no more “pink” cards this year notifying you whether or not you have been drawn.

      Unlike the last several big game drawings, this was not another record-breaking year for the number of applications – there were 140,167 applications, which is down 2,741 from last year. Up to four individuals can apply on one application.

      To find out if you have been drawn, try the following:

·        Call (602) 942-300 (the main Game and Fish number) for free, and follow the prompts;

·        Call 1-866-220-4868 (there is a $5 fee);

·        Access the Game and Fish Department’s Internet Home Page at www.azgfd.com.

      Be sure to have you department identification number (Social Security number) and you birthday (month and day) available so you can access the drawing information.

      There are also some permits remaining for first-come, first-served only. The following seasons have hunt-permit tags remaining:

  • Juniors Only Turkey, 7 tags;
  • Juniors Only Kaibab Deer, 228 tags;
  • General Deer, 391 tags;
  • Antlerless Elk, 90 tags;

·        Archery Only Antlerless Elk, 154 tags.

      For those who qualify there are military hunts available at both Ft. Huachuca and Camp Navajo. The information on leftover tags – via hunt number – will be available on the "Hunt Information Line" (602) 789-3702 after 5 p.m., Friday, July 13.

      Remember that first-come, first-served is by U.S. mail only, on or after Aug. 13.  Applications cannot be received before that date.
