Elk Foundation hosting Arizona Special Elk Tag Raffle

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Arizona chapters of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation are holding a raffle for one of two 2001 Special Elk Tags allotted by the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. Past permits have sold at the Foundation’s annual convention auction for as much as $130,000.

The Arizona Special Elk Tag is not available for general application. It allows one hunter to pursue elk with either a firearm or bow and arrow in all legal hunting units throughout the state, with the exception of tribal lands. The permit is valid for either residents or nonresidents between September 1 and December 31, 2001.

Raffle tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100, and can be obtained by contacting Cookie Nicoson at (602)237-2352, by email at arizonaelktag@aol.com, or by postal mail at 3940 W. Ceton Dr., Laveen, AZ 85339. The drawing will take place August 11, 2001, and the winner need not be present. The winner will receive all permits and licenses necessary for the hunt, along with a shoulder mount from Verde Valley Taxidermy.

More than $1.5 million raised from past Elk Foundation Arizona Special Elk Tag raffles and auctions has helped the Foundation direct nearly $4.7 million back to the Arizona Game and Fish Department to conserve and enhance 215,000 acres of Arizona wildlife habitat.
