Award-Wining Officer Instructing

Boater Safety Class in Flagstaff

A boating safety class has been scheduled for the Flagstaff area from 6 to 10 p.m. July 31 and Aug. 2 at the Arizona Game and Fish office conference room, 3500 S. Lake Mary Road.

The instructor is Steve Andrews, Flagstaff regional law program manager. Andrews recently received the “Arizona Boating Safety Officer of the Year” award for his excellence in boating safety. An experienced watercraft operator and enforcement officer, Andrews has logged more than 1,000 hours of patrol on Arizona waters during his 22-year career.

The class teaches boaters the importance of safety equipment, effects of heat and dehydration on operator impairment, navigation skills and much more. "Most insurance companies offer discounts for successfully completing a boating safety course," said Andrews. "But the biggest reason for taking the training is the knowledge you will gain. Safe boaters have fewer accidents.  Do it for the family," added Andrews.

Anyone interested in attending should call 520-774-5045 to reserve a spot in the class or obtain more information.
