Game and Fish Commission Preview

      The Arizona Game and Fish Commission is covering a range of agenda items during its three-day meeting in the White Mountains.

      The commission may participate in a legislative workshop starting 2 p.m. Sept. 6 in the Show Low Town Council Chambers at 200 W. Cooley.

      On Sept. 7 starting at 8 a.m., the commission is conducting its regularly scheduled meeting in the Pinetop-Lakeside Town Council Chambers, 1360 N. Niels Hansen Lane.

      On Saturday Sept. 8, the commission is meeting in the Pinetop-Lakeside Town Council Chambers at 8 a.m. for an update on the issues associated with on-going and proposed urban interface and forest restoration projects in Arizona, and will take a tour of the Blue Ridge Demonstration Project.

      During the Sept. 7 (Friday) portion of the meeting, the following items are being considered:

·        An update of current issues, planning efforts, and proposed projects on federal lands in Arizona;

·        Approval of a right of way for the Arizona Public Service Co. at the Ben Avery Shooting Range;

·        Distribution of herbaceous forage between domestic livestock and wild ungulates in the 4B/3C Analysis Area on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest;

·        North Kaibab Game Cooperative Fund Budget;

·        A new position – a department webmaster – using Heritage carry forward money;

·        Statewide shooting range project update;

·        Alternative access route into the northern portion of the Mule Mountains southeast of Tombstone.

·         Hearings on license revocations for violation of Game and Fish codes and civil assessments for the illegal taking and or possession of wildlife.
