Live Radio

Suddenly your voice quivers and you reflexively begin to move you right hand forward when you hear a little voice in your head say, ”you can’t backspace the spoken word.” Then everything gets hazy,  the lights grow blurry and your notes metamorphosis into oriental characters right in front of your eyes. The evil gremlin that lives in the corner of your mind is rolling around in fits of uncontrollable laughter. You  suddenly realize that your voice has gotten stronger. Again you hear the little voice in your head say “I think you’re still speaking”.  You notice that  music is  playing  in your headphones and as quickly as it began its  over.

I have always been one for new things so when I was asked to do the live Outdoors Arizona talk show with Jim and Darla Solomon I said sure and the little voice in my head said “ it’ll be a cinch.”  I was not prepared for my first reaction to Live Radio.  It was a very different kind of experience for me.  First of all the bird dog guy didn’t show up so I was ushered into the studio early. It’s live, gotta improvise.  I have heard of people getting stage fright or freezing up in front of a camera but I didn’t realize that a microphone could have the same effect.  All in all it was a great experience and Jim and Darla both were wonderful and made me feel right at home.  Darla was a real professional and I’m sure she has seen that blank stupid look before. She filled in expertly for my inadequacies.  But you know what? I am ready to do it again. I have got to teach the evil gremlin a lesson! Just two things though, could someone tell me what I said and I wonder if we could disguise that microphone.

Thanks Jim and Darla
