Sportsmen Team With Game & Fish For Boquillas Ranch Clean-up
KINGMAN - Hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts can help ensure continued public access to areas of Game Management Unit 10 by attending this year's Boquillas Ranch clean up Saturday, May 19. The annual clean-up of the 730,000-acre ranch near Seligman, is sponsored by the Mohave Sportsman Club as part of Game and Fish's Adopt-A-Ranch program. The ranch is owned by the Navajo Nation and is a popular area for big-game hunting and other outdoor recreation. "This program helps keep private lands like the Boquillas open for public recreation," said Unit 10 Wildlife Manager Tim Pender. Game and Fish surveys have consistently shown that landowners cite public littering as one of the major causes for restricting public access. "While most sportsmen are responsible and clean-up after themselves, just a few messy campsites can ruin things for everybody," Pender said. "That's why I encourage sportsmen to come out to the Boquillas this year and really make a difference." Participants will meet between 8 and 9 a.m. at Pica Camp, which is located a few miles north of old Route 66 at about milepost 123. Clean-up efforts will be done by 6 p.m. For more information, call David Boyd at the Kingman regional office, (520) 692-7700 ext. 117. |
