You must be Joe's friend
Joe Owens, Owner of BASSBACKER Guide Service offered to take me fishing. It was a signature "thank you" to AZOD for supporting his business with a web page and web promotion. Now, Joe is known for getting folks on the big Bass but I asked for a night of Flathead fishing. He jumped at the chance. He gets on the water probably 5 times a week but doesn’t get to do much fishing. Joe is an excellent guide so he makes the customer first. His fishing is usually limited to showing the clients how a certain retrieve is done. Joe was ready for some fishing time for himself.
If
you like people, you will like Joe. He will strike up an open conversation with
anyone. Some have even warned him that: "not everyone is your friend".
Well folks, if that’s a true statement it’s short lived. It doesn’t take
long to form a genuine liking to this man. A few minutes with Joe is all the
time he needs to make a new friend.
We
enjoyed the night stars and the gentle breeze on the water that night. The
conversation naturally slipped from one subject to another. Maybe I just needed
the time away, free of the laptop and the web and the phone. Or maybe it was Joe
and his easy manner. But in that
one night of fishing I delved into my past further than I have in a long time
and shared stories, jokes, successes and heartaches with Joe. I'd swear the guy
is a PHD Shrink masquerading as a Fishing Guide.
